JEE MAINS 2020 - Information
WELCOME TO EXAMS NOTIFICATIONS
As we all know about a very prestigious engineering examination held every
year in our country for admission in Top Tier Engineering Colleges, yeah
that's right it is known as
JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE MAINS).
First of all these stuffs, there's a brief information about this
examination. It is held every year by
NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (NTA) in online
mode twice the year in the month of January and April. Before NTA the
organising agency for this examination was
CENTRAL BOARD of SECONDARY EDUCATION (CBSE).
The examination is conducted in two different stages for two different
tiers of colleges, i.e.,
JEE MAINS for Tier-2 Engineering Colleges such as NITs
and IIITs and JEE ADVANCED for Tier-1 Engineering Colleges which includes all the IITs.
For appearing in the JEE ADVANCED there is a gateway pass required,
for that you have to qualify the JEE MAINS
examination.
To appear in this examination the candidates should have Physics, Chemistry
and Mathematics as their core subjects in class 12th. Those candidates who
have either passed their
class 12th (with 75% for GEN & OBC, with 65% for SC & ST)
or
are in top 20 percentile of their respective boards in 2018 or 2019 or
those who are appearing for class 12th Board or equivalent qualifying
exam this year.
The candidates can appear in this examination for 3 consecutive years as
there are 2 attempts every year, so in total there are 6 attempts for a
candidate to appear in this examination. But he/she can apply for JEE
ADVANCED for only first two attempts.
The dates for online mode of examination is between 6-20 January and April.
This year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the April month examination has to be
postponed by the NTA on the order of MHRD. Now as the number of tests
increased throughout the country, MHRD has decided to take the education
system back on track and hence has declared the revised dates for
examinations, i.e., 18 to 23 July.
After qualifying JEE MAINS you can apply for JEE ADVANCED provided that
either you are in your 12th Board examination or you have passed out Board a
year before, i.e.,you are a year repeater.
